Branding history.

Branding is a brand desing, development, management and promotion at the market. Such activity as branding was already present even in the Middle Ages.

At that time craftsmen stamped their products with their own mark ("brand") named "trade mark" in the modern language. Such practice appeared at the moment when there was more than one craftsman (smith, potter, shoemaker, carpenter) in a certain territorial unit (a town or a village). One can still see the Middle Age "trade marks" or "brands", marking craftsmen's workshops and their products in the ancient European towns.  

In the USA such marks ("logos") were also used for marking the cattle and later for the goods of a definite farm or rancho. 

The idea of branding as a way of product definition was greatly developed in the late XXth century when there appeared high competition and lots of similar products and services.
